Click Read Out Loud. Click Activate Read Out Loud. Click View, then Read Out Loud again. Select 'Read This Page Only' or 'Read to End of Document'. Adobe Reader will read the document. To change the voice reading the document, see the To Change the Voice at the end of these instructions. Find the PDF file which you wish to covert and open it on your computer with Adobe Reader. Head over to the 'View' tab and hover to the 'Read out' option. Check the 'Activate Read out Loud' option.

To start using Read Out Loud on your personal device, download Adobe Reader
Activate Read Out Loud in Adobe Reader:
- On the 'View' menu, choose 'Read Out Loud' > 'Activate Read Out Loud'
- Again go to 'View' > 'Read Out Loud' and then choose an appropriate option for reading
- To read the current page, choose 'Read This Page Only'
- To read the entire document, choose 'Read To End of Document'

Reading PDFs aloud
Read Out Loud works best when the Reflow setting is switched off. To switch off Reflow:
- Go to the Edit menu, then Preferences
- Untick the box next to Always use Zoom Setting.
- Then close and re-open your PDF document.
You must then activate Read Out Loud before you can use it.
Switch Read Out Loud on
From the View menu.
Choose Read Out Loud.
Then Activate Read Out Loud (or press Shift+Ctrl+Y).
Change reading voice
Click on the Edit menu, then Preferences (at the bottom of the menu).
Choose the Reading category.
Free website reader. Remove the tick from Use default voice
Choose a voice from the Voice drop down list – the list of voices available to you will depend on what you have installed on your PC. ScanSoft Daniel is a good voice.
Click OK
Read a PDF
Go to the page in the PDF you want to read.
From the View menu, choose Read Out Loud then:
- Choose Read This Page Only (or press Shift+Ctrl+V).
- Or choose Read To End Of Document (or press Shift+Ctrl+B).
If you hear the message 'Warning - Empty page', please make sure the Reflow setting is switched off, as above.
Stop reading out loud
From the View menu, choose Read Out Loud then:
Choose Pause (or press Shift+Ctrl+C).
- Choose Stop (or press Shift+Ctrl+E).
